Types of Motion Detection Sensors
1.) Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensors:
- Detect heat signatures from humans or animals and respond to changes in infrared energy.
- Commonly used for automatic lighting and security alarms.
- Work well indoors and are energy-efficient.
2.) Ultrasonic Sensors:
- Emit ultrasonic waves and detect motion by analyzing the frequency shift caused by moving objects.
- Sensitive to even minor movements but can be prone to false alarms.
3.) Microwave Sensors:
- Use microwave signals to detect motion based on Doppler shifts.
- Have a wider range than PIR sensors but may detect movement through walls, leading to unintended activations.
4.) Dual Technology Sensors:
- Combine PIR and microwave or ultrasonic technologies to reduce false alarms by cross-verifying motion detection.
